The Woodford County Sheriffs Department is responsible for transporting 
prisoners to appear before a judge or stand trial for crimes committed against the state or fellow man.
The Sheriff’s Department also handles extridictions to the Woodford County Detention Center for prisoners that must stand before a local judge in Woodford County. These extriditions have taken the Sheriff Department deputies as far as Mexico. Prisoners can be transported for the jail by car or commercial airliner with travel expenses recovered from the state or in some cases by the prisoner themselves through court ordered restitution.
