Project Lifesaver/Senior Watch

The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office Project Lifesaver/Senior Watch Program is being developed to assist and provide residents a sense of security and confidence that assistance is coming should they become incapacitated. News headlines report every day of some type of tragedy involving seniors falling victim to crimes or are reported missing due to illness and all to often, not found until assistance has little hope for the person in need. Children with autism and Down Syndrome can wander off in seconds.

I am now implementing a program in Woodford County to prevent tragedy’s and to assist those that may have loved ones living alone and are concerned for their safety. Project Lifesaver/ Senior Watch is a way of giving independence to citizens in need of a little assistance without interfering with their freedoms. Congressman Ben Chandler awarded a grant totaling $200,00 for community oriented policing. This has enabled the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office to purchase a tracking system through this grant.

With Project Lifesaver, a person is given a small transmitter that they wear like a watch. If this person becomes lost or wanders off, they can be tracked by a receiving unit. Emergencies can take only seconds and result in hours of anguish for loved ones. Rapid recovery is always  foremost and would reduce manpower hours greatly during a search.
